Although the seller had just had the movement serviced and the watch resealed by Seiko, I decided it wasn't for me. I sold it on Ebay to a member of one of the Seiko forums for what was, at the time, a fair BIN price. He immediately turned around and tried to flip it on Ebay for more, which annoyed me a little. But he overestimated how much people would pay for a Tuna in the condition it was in (see below), and after re-listing it several times he only managed a tiny profit. My price was fair...and he found that out!

I was wearing my 7549-7009 yesterday, and my wife asked how much it was worth, and I had to think about it and then admit that I didn't really know. I know what I paid for it, but I have zero true idea of what price the market would give to this piece. By the way, on yours, great illustration that a water resistance rating is only as good as the seals in the watch. All the advanced technology in terms of case design, but if the seals are junk, the watch will suffer.

I'm sure i'm in the minority, but I'm not a big fan of the Golden Tuna. I've never been a fan of gold, and this one is really no different.

I don't like the cheap GP stuff on base-metal cases, in part because it wears so badly. And it's out of fashion. But for me the Golden is different since the materials are all different - Titanium Nitride over Titanium. Very hard-wearing.

I have no doubt that it's durable, and more attractive than most others, but it's still gold. I'd certainly own one if it fell into my lap, but I have no interest in paying anywhere near fair market value.

If I had to guess, I'd say $1500-$2000 for yours? Again, I really have no idea...It's not something I desire, so I've never paid attention.

I want to say I sold this guy for either $425 or $450 in 2010. IIRC, I was a little surprised that I got that much, and that the watch sold in only a matter of hours.

It doesn't matter, I won't be selling it, I'm just curious. I have no idea why it's worth. I'm asking because my wife asked me to label / tag all of my watches with info & values so that if I get hit by a bus or die in a blimp accident she will have some idea of the value of my stuff.

I'd say yours is worth a cold G on a bad day, $1500+ on a good day. As you say, prices are all over the place. But don't you dare get hit by a bus or die in a blimp accident!

I think soft / unpredictable prices might indicate a few things but it seems typical for Seikos when values are changing. Saw it a lot with the 6309s before the floor price for them firmed up around $200. Or I could be talking out of my @ss.
