Also got this. While I can't wear women's pieces myself, I often sell them or give them to friends. They can be got for minimal dollars. 23 Jewel piece..niiiice. Mostly I like the electric blue dial. It's like crack for me.

Final one. A particularly nice Sea-Lion M330 in gold cap. Needs a crown. It's a little grubby but the cap is in original and very nice condition

Thanks guys.
That early Quartz is hot. They are the best. I think the quartz sort of went into the doldrums in the mid 80's and the designs are pretty nasty. But the early ones really have an edge to them.

That diver is definitely a fixer-upper. Dial looks OK. Hands might re-lume OK or can be replaced. The rest is pretty simple. I just had this bunch arrive. A NOS CITIZEN 8200 in PVD, a pretty beaten 7009 in gold with a crappy Spidel flexy, and a 6119-6023 to go with the other 5 or so I have sitting in my fixup pile. The 6119 is pretty good besides a crusty crystal. The gold 7009 will be a testbed for me learning brush plating. If I can make it work, that will be a damn nice piece. The CITIZEN is a reference piece, as I'm getting a few through these days.

Adrian, nice dial! Coincidentally, today this arrived: I also had this show up today - I did the work on it for Stephen Randolph, and just loved it. Asked him to remember that if he ever decided to flip it to talk to me. Well, he talked to me and here it is in a super gross quick-and-dirty shot:

That 6138 is so nice. I'm assuming that bracelet is a replacement?
I think I'm going to need to add a diver to the fleet again sometime soon. I did have a 7002 with a dodge-dial but I sold it a while ago. I can'y decide if i like the midnight blue tone or black dial better...

...23 Jewel piece..niiiice. ... You know, that is likely a quite high quality movement in there ... more important than the actual jewel count is the "Special" on the dial!! What is the movement calibre# from either the case-style# on back or the dial codes??? Some possibilities from the movement table: 1. solar special: 1040A 10SL 2. Queen SEIKO special: 1120A 11QSL 3. solar special: 1140A 11SL 4. Salvia special: 1144A SVL 5. Joyfull special: 2421A or 2426A for those that are hand-wind 23j and no calendar. Special does tend to indicate special adjustment on the movement on the men's watches anyway. That usually puts the watch at 1 accuracy grade higher than it's supposed calibre designation. So a King Seiko Special (like with a 5256 movement & marked Special on the dial) works out to be a "AA" grade - which is entry level Grand Seiko - rather than the normal "A" grade for King. See the xxxxx database for the accuracy grades, and I'm sure we discussed the "Special" designation there. Earliest I've seen it used was in the late '50s on the Lord Marvel (1st Generation) where the back was marked as "Specially Adjusted" or something similar ... I'd need to search my private database for the pic.

While I have Imgur open, I thought I'd quickly crack the piece open and take a movement shot. It's a particularly nice piece. So I'd say the Special in this case refers to the higher jewel count. I've actually got a few of these 1140 and 1120 movements. They are so nice, and at the top of their game at the time, but don't get a lot of love.

I got this today...straight outta Japan! It's a '72 6139-7060. The dial looks black/gray in the pics, but it is very hard to photograph. Think bright brushed stainless steel with a clear coat over it. Amazing! I don't think I have seen this dial before.

It doesn't help that few women collect watches... Now, Seiko did some AMAZING small calibres: 1. The worlds only (AFAIK) women's / small-size ultra hi-beats (meaning, at least 36Kbph)!! The 19GS family (1964 & 1984 VFA) of movement & the 1944A chronometer!! Sorry: Removing reference links to the database. Owner of that site refuses to allow links to other sites on his now, so I refuse to advertise FREE for him!! From there, a side-by-side shot of a 36Kbph hi-beat 1944 (Women's) and a 36Kbph 5740C Lord Marvel (Men's): A 1944 vs. 4520 GS: Movement of the 1944: 2. Queen Seiko low & high (28.8K) beat: Cal. 330 Cal. 1020 They also used the 2559 (hi-beat Queen) in unisex cases, not badged as Queen. I have a couple: Mine (2 different): The right one (or bottom one depending how it displays for you) is actually in a gold color case & bracelet, shot is just washed out!! So, Seiko really did well for the Ladies too!!

Funny you should put up the ad for the 14k gold "Presentation" DX. I didn't know they existed until a day or two ago. There is one on Ebay right now. Photo from Ebay.

Ninja - GREAT info. I didn't know some of those existed! In other news, I just had a customer's piece turn up. It's yet another Australian native with the yellow dial/black ring. Another vote for this being a legit variation.
