This review, makes me not want to buy an 007 from that particular seller.
"Feels like a fake. Light weight. The crown grinds when I unscrew it. I looked at other reviews and they seem happy. It came in a plastic bag with one huge sheet folded that had the instructions. I've had for a few hours and is keeping good time so far. I'm keeping it, but would recommend buying from a seller with hundreds if positive comments."

Yeah, he's got some not-OK reviews. I've never heard of the lume on a 007 disintegrating in a few days, which one person talked about. I wonder if these are returned / defective watches he's re-selling.

I wouldn't doubt, that some of that happens.

"Reimportation" I love made up words. So what does it mean? Been here, sent back to Japan and then sent back here?

Model number SKX007KD
What does the "D" stand for. I have never seen it used before.

The bad reviews are a little puzzling as the Japanese sellers are normally pretty good.
I've done a good bit of business with Seiya and never had a problem.
YMMV

Model number SKX007KD What does the "D" stand for. I have never seen it used before. A year or two ago these 'KD' models were common on eBay. The story the sellers where pedaling was that these watches, which were produced in Malaysia and China were reimported to Japan to be sold as domestic market watches; thus the D. This makes absolutely no business sense what so ever. No proof has ever been offered to show any of them to be fakes but something definitely has an odour to this whole business. As for third party sellers on Amazon; you really are gambling that you are getting a new watch and not a customer return or factory seconds.

Some of the tags I have seen have that series of number and letter, I got a SKX009 and it was marked as SNX009KD, it came from Australia so maybe something to do with the distribution? Either way it's the real deal, meaning the real watch with real movement etc. not a fake.

Anyone going to take a gamble and buy one? I have noticed a drop in price over the last few months, but I'm passing on these. I think I've decided to hold out on new Seiko's with the 7s movements, waiting for the "next generation" to hit the shelves.

I think I've decided to hold out on new Seiko's with the 7s movements, waiting for the "next generation" to hit the shelves. It would be nice if the series was revamped a bit, but there is no indication that it will. Each new model other then different movement comes with higher price tag too which is not really interesting...

Yikes, those 6r15s are expensive. I was thinking more along the lines of the 4r36 monsters that are around $220. I sure wouldn't mind some hacking/ hand winding on a skx...
Perhaps "next" generation wasn't the correct term for the 4r36.

With the amount of watch you get they have been underprice for years. I think they are trying to head towards the middle ground where the undecorated ETA's and stuff sit right now. In snobby watch circles, SEIKO still doesn't rate seriously, just due to price. Yikes, those 6r15s are expensive. I was thinking more along the lines of the 4r36 monsters that are around $220.
