Just because someone disagrees with you, doesn't make it wrong. I'm a purist, I don't like BB, PVD, relumes or AM parts. Many folks don't mind, and that's okay. Instead of buying a watch that would require a relume, I'd just keep searching for a better example...but that's just me. Look at your 6105...it's been relumed (not exceptionally well), and you put a BB on it. I have a feeling, it's not worth anywhere near what you think it is. I'd love to get Shawn's opinion, as to how easy it would be, to get a BB case close to OEM again. I would be extremely interested in what you think its worth! I have an idea what I think it would sell for.......lets see how close you think? Create a thread, and post pics and details...you'll get some feedback.

Why does the value matter? I buy watches for the look. If I like it then I buy it... if I want it. Well unless you are Bill Gates or Carlos Slim or Warren Buffet ... it matters when you find something else you like & want to get your $$ back on the one you have now, so you can get the other one without having to use the next months grocery money ... :-/ OK, I'm being a bit facetious here, but it is true that when you have a "substantial amount" invested in a collectible, and you are a " continuing collector" (you'll want to buy more & more &...) ... you may indeed have a "limit" on your ... Ahem ... disposable funds. Thus, you may indeed need or just want to get your value back to continue your collecting ways without diminishing your purchasing power over the (hopefully) decades of collecting pleasure you will have in your lifetime...

I just wanted opinions as to its worth. Sure, if you are indeed right about that, then market value does indeed NOT matter!! If you, however, do need to sell it someday (vs. want to sell it) - then market value could matter... I've collected things for decades and only sold 1 of those items so far; a Seiko 6159 300M reconstruction project near completion. I did make money on it, which was nice. I didn't WANT to sell it, but NEEDED to ... didn't need the money, just that I was moving overseas & the watchmaker kept dragging his feet on completing the job. I didn't trust to having the item shipped to the Philippines & actually getting it ... plus I'd likely have to pay Customs duties and VAT on something I ALREADY OWNED. So, had to sell it to be practical. If I took a loss on it under those circumstances I wouldn't have been too happy. Moral: you never know what turns your life will take, and you may be "forced" to sell a collectible you really would like to hang onto instead. So, if that happens, you'll likely think value does indeed matter at that time.

I was meaning more of... you already have the watch, why be concerned with the value, especially if you're never going to sell it. My favorite watches are just that... whatever the worth. I had a friend that would buy something and then go into store after store to see what it was going for. It drove me nuts... you already have it, move on to your next purchase!

As Peter has taught me.......NEVER say NEVER! Ya never know......some day I just may end up selling it. There was a time when I said I would NEVER buy an orange dialed watch but now I cant get enough of them.

Hell, I've got one-of a kind modified watches, so they must be worth even more, eh? Mind you, none of them are "Swiss Made". Not surprisingly, this thread boils down to why and what we collect with respect to timepieces. I buy/collect what I like and yes, I like hot rods. Value is simply what the market will bear.

I guess in the long run as others have said......... what ever the market will bare. On the Bay on a good day I can easily see it fetching at least $900.00 - $1000.00 and on a slow day perhaps $500.00 - $700.00?

Far too much rework, for me to pay close to that price (I'm a silly purist). That being said, I'm sure you'll enjoy the heck out of it.

The rework I dont mind, if it was done right with orginial parts. I know this one has a new crystal but thats ok as I can sit back at wait for an OEM one to come along... Maybe lol, but I one wanted as close to orginial without looking like it was actually in Vietnam.

You wouldn't need to spend the money on an OEM crystal, Spencer sells nice 1:1 repros here. edit - You may even get Jack, to swap it out for a non AR version.

That's pretty phuked up, but probably not too terrible far off the mark. I could have sworn, that one of those sold for like $500.
