Anyone here getting a new watch for Christmas this year? I almost always get one but this year instead of a watch it will be a new PC which I need and want! Thats not to say I dont want a watch too but I would be pressing my luck! The one good thing I have going for me is that my B/day is in February so I can always hold out till then!

Her Ladyship said I could have a watch to the value of £50 (she has absolutely no idea of prices ! ). This one wasn't horrendously expensive so I paid the rest meself .

I'll brave the Win 8.1 Eventually I will learn it. When I get it I'm going to D/L the classic shell app.

The only thing I can tell you about Dell and W8.1 is DO NOT use the McAffee program it comes with. Disable it, don't use the free sample version and download Avast. McAffee is the Devil. I have the Dell Inspiron XPS 8700. GREAT computer once McAffee was gone. You'll enjoy it.
Just set it to open to desktop everytime and it's just like XP... almost.

The 8700 looks like a nice PC but a bit too pricey for me! The one I'm looking at is only $300.00 is just fine and should meet all of my needs! As to Mcafee........ it sucks and so does Norton! The only one I have really effectively used is Malwarebytes and it does a great job! Most all infections these days arent caused by a Virus but rather a Malware.

I also run Malwarebytes every week.
I don't know that mine is any better than the one that you'll be getting. I have business stuff on it so I wanted speed and storage.
I couldn't believe that at the price I paid Office was not included. Then... if you buy the programs from them they let you download them. If you want a disk... that's extra!
Sharon's grandson made a computer for her that is every bit as good as mine. I watched him. My next computer will not be a Dell. I will make it from all the parts at Fry's.

Sadly enough PCs are like cell phones.......one day its brand new and the next day its already outdated! As long as my new one is speedy and reliable thats all I care about! I dont do any office work or have any need for business apps.

Will you run Malwarebytes free or the paid for version? If just the free one then also get Adaware Antivirus as it include real time protection and automatic definition updates. Malwarebytes Premium is so inexpensive that it's worth it to have the real time protection, automatic updates, scheduled scanning and other powerful tools.

Nothing new for me.
I finally got my Davosa back and I spent all my money on 3 1/2 lbs of silver with another 1 1/2lbs in the mail which hasn't come yet.

It has all the full coverage and during the holiday season there will be super deals. Last Christmas I remember getting bombarded with 30% to 50% off for a year's subscription! The trial is good for 30 days so you will likely get an offer
