Search the title on evilbay. This seller has a buy it now of $1,200.00. Grab it quick before someone does a back door deal! Auctions like this are spawned by greed on the seller's part and by abject stupidity on any buyer's part

You may joke but that looks like a near mint T dial with original books and boxes. I've see them make nearly that just as a watch in the UK no boxes or paperwork. I've seen them make near that with aftermarket parts fitted when sold by beejoo4 the master in aftermarket lash up's. I paid near that for my NOS blue 78 watch. I've seen NOS watches make over $1700. I've only been collecting since Feb this year and to me a new comer that doesn't look like a bad watch for the money even if the photos are terrible. I think some of you long term collectors remember the good times when a nice watch could be had for a couple of hundred dollars tops. Just my opinion from over this side of the puddle.

Tony, As they say, it's value is what someone is willing to pay for it. If I were to pay that kind of money knowing I could get the same watch for half or less that; I would kick myself around the block every day until I learned my lesson I realize you folks in the UK are used to paying really high prices for watches but there are ways to get around that and any ensuing VAT.

That seems way over the top with the buy it now price to me! It's a nice enough watch and owning a few I'd love to think they were fetching that kind of money, but it's pie in the sky for one with no service record from a private seller.

Hi. Actually I don't like the yellow/gold ones. I think they look like rubbish compared to the blue ones. Cheers Phil

I guess what makes this particular piece especially valuable, is that it was stored in a pet-free home, so it hasn't been drooled over by a dog or nibbled at by a guinea pig

I don't wear the yellow ones, either. To me, they are like walking around with a flashlight strapped to your wrist. Too bright, too loud. Yellow makes these watches look almost like toys. Blue is where it's at! But I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the seller of the watch in question gets every penny he is asking for. This is exactly the kind of vintage Seiko a well-heeled watch collector wants to buy...if they wanted to, er... stoop down to buying a Seiko. And many are. Try finding a Heuer Autavia for this kind of cash. Even $1200 is chickenshit money compared to a contemporary vintage Swiss chrono in this kind of shape, and with all of it's accoutrements.

I'd pay it if I wanted a clean example but I would want much better photos first. My NOS blue dial had excellent clear photos and as I said I gave $1105 in total for that watch without all the boxes or papers and in my humble was and still is worth every penny. Find me another!

Looks like a good original watch. "Looks" like. Pictures are too small and poorly lit to make conclusive determinations at that asking price. It is an interesting market these days when you consider what people are paying for cobbled 6139 and 6138 chrono's let alone what a beat to shitte 6105-811x can fetch. I'm surprised about the amount of disdain I am seeing here for the gold dial 6139-600x. I agree it's aesthetic is not that of a "serious" watch but who wants all their watches to be serious? I love my blue one and wouldn't mind a silver but the gold is a lot of fun on the wrist and when it catches the sunlight just right it is utterly captivating. This seems to happen the most when I am driving thus making it a road hazard as I am prone to gaze at its beauty rather than watch where I am going.

For that sort of money I would buy a 6138-0011 or 6138-0020 The gold 6139-600X's are great watches but over rated imo.

Blue, silver or yellow, I have no favourites - they're all great to me.

I think silver looks the best and yellow looks the worst, but there is only one Pogue so you gotta start with the yellow and go from there.
The real problem are the original bracelets. Just awful and IMO nearly unwearable.

That said the last two I brought cost me £50GBP each.

No complaints re the 6139 600x brackets here either. I have both the h-link and president style bracelets and they're fine.

I'm assuming it is the same Stelux bracelet on various chronos.

Not the same but similar and feel about the same on your wrist. I have a few watches with Stelux president style bracelets and not one uses the same links.
