It is a fake dial. If you want a genuine near nos dial give me a shout. Cool bezel though on it, but yeh so many of these have been 'restored', probably due to poor condition originals being chucked out after too much moisture. Here is my 729A which is one of my favs. You can see the difference in text and markers. They are extremely hard to find in good original condition unfortunately. Hi all, new member here. Recently found myself drawn to Seiko divers having never had much interest in them. Decided to pick up a beaten up 6309-729A ,advertised as non-running, I found for a very good price. I've a feeling the dial is probably aftermarket, but it runs nicely out of the envelope and I've really enjoyed wearing it for the last few weeks on a cheap NATO strap. hosting imagesExpecting to be told it's a feiko at any moment 🤣

I think there's an element of accepting the watch may have been 'restored' at some point if you want to strike a balance between 'wearably nice watch' and 'reasonable price'. It's a shame, but I really like the watch, and I've found I can look past the dial.

I have a question... I was sold what seemed to be an all original 6309-7049, and everything seems correct including the "hang time" of the old lume under black light, which lasts a minute or so, but the hands glow blue while the indices glow green.
The watch was also serviced by a reputable maker recently, and given the green light on authenticity according to seller. I have no reason to doubt the watch other than the quickly-dying-lume colors, as there aren't many "show me your 6309 lume" threads.

Beautiful catch indeed. Congratulations. Let us know when the 6309-704X is added to keep your 6306-7001 company. Trust me, the day is coming.

Already got a modded 6309-7290... (Dial, hands & bevel are aftermarket and the movement is a 6349A...)

Dang, looks like I'm not the only one with 6309 Turtle problem. I had five of them at some point, but somehow I managed to get back to just one

Nah, I still have 5 too. Are we counting new turtles? I believe that would put me at eight, not including the one I'm keeping for my son's 18th (birth month watch) or the ones in the "to sell" pile...

Down to these 5 vintage (4 6309 & 1 6306) Used to have a dozen modern SRP777 series Turtles now only these 3 (SRPC25, SRPD01 and a modded orange) Just realized I have the OG LE, SRPC49 residing in the Black Series box.....

I had decided to stop thinking about the SRPD01 for a while, and now you had to go and get me started again! We have opposite ratios--I'm at two 2 6309s, one 6306, and five SRPs...again, unless you start counting the ones that are theoretically on their way out the door.

The 6309 is a great watch, but my personal preference would be for the kanji wheel and slightly higher jewel count of the 6306. The original XGL831 strap is worth it, if you can get your hands on one. Middle photo is the original catalogue picture

Uncle Seiko offers a good replacement if you can't find an original and don't mind an AM strap.

I saw a few more of yours. jaw-drop-smiley-emoticon I got an Eco-Drive 300m. (Thanks Larry) happy I like it. nodding-yes-by-a-very-happy-smiley-emoticonI could see me wearing a vintage one. nodding-yes-by-a-very-happy-smiley-emoticon All donations to the buy me a 6309-704x fund gratefully received. Looking back through posts and Dad's collection, of course he managed to get his hands on 2 of these I believe after saying about finally wanting a divers watch. See below:

Those are both beautiful divers. What appears to be a 6309-7049 and an SXK007J1. I remember your Dad very well and was very saddened at the news of his passing. You being here is very special and a great legacy to all of the content he added to the forum.

I am a real amateur but want to get to a point where I can share his collection (in pics and sales...) because I feel they are sitting being under-appreciated at the moment! Was so nice to scroll through his posts and work out what he was proud of and his favourites and the ones he wasn't so keen on too! Trying my best to learn along the way
