OK trilo, I'm curious about the day wheel window on that watch showing 'TIME' - what is this all about?
The Slava 2427 in green for me today, hoping to see the parts I need to fix his older brother in the mail today!

Motor moves the hands when user chooses the mode from crown. Crown is only to select the mode and sub functions (when pulled out). User adjusts everything with the pushers on the left side of the watch. Functions are following: Time: Shows the actual time Alm. On: Shows time, but the alarm set by the user is now active (watch wont ring the alarm in other modes). Alm. Set: Allows user to select when the alarm rings. Timer: 1-60 mintues. User selects the amount of minutes and then starts the timer. Minute hand at 12 is full 60 minutes, next steps are 1,2,3,4... etc. up to said 12 o clock position, which is 60 minutes. Hands move backwards (except hour hand). One can stop and continue the timer if needed. Timer is active in other modes aswel (will make short alarm when the time is up). Date: All hands point at a dial index. 12 is December, 1 is January etc. Leap year excluded, but the date is automatic, thus the name (I guess) "Auto calendar". Chrono: Starts a chronograph from top left pusher. For the first minute second hand shows 1/10ths of a second in real time. After 1st minute has passed, minute hand displays seconds in real time and the hour hand will display minutes passed. When the user stops the time, second hand will move to show 1/10ths. Up to 60 minutes. That's all basically. I love it. So unassuming, yet packed with tons of functions. P.S. inboostIf my description didn't convince you, I encourage to go and buy one Knowing your tendency for quirky watches, this is the one to get. Everytime I show how the hands move backwards, people start smiling, regardless their level of enthusiasm!

I picked up my new glasses this morning. Once again, my distance vision has improved (bizarre…) to the point where that part of the vari-focal lens prescription is pretty much plain glass. So now, when I’m out walking, I feel like I’m about a foot shorter than with my old glasses. It’s a very odd feeling indeed! However, I digress. We’re here for the watches! For today, I’m sporting the SRPK17K1.

I should have changed to something else but needed to be sure that capacitor is well charged. It should be good for 3 months tops.
I'm so tempted to push the 2 O'clock charge check button. Might even change to a regular battery and lock the charge rotor if charge holding is terrible

Is it the modern MT920 cell? I wore mine for weeks, daily, and didn't get more than 20 out 30 charge (for those who don't know, charge is displayed in second and 30 is full charge). Apparently it takes ages to get it full with kinetic charging compared to solar.

Just back from Electric Watches - Paul did a great job bringing this one back to life. Both coils were toast, as well as a number of other bits and bobs. As a bonus, the last person in there seems to have over oiled it - fortunately, despite swimming in the stuff, none made it to the dial and etc.

I only have 1/3 charge for 5 days wear. What a farce! Considering how hard I tried to get the thing to full charge. Should've seen the look on a co-worker as I was busy giving it the Seiko shuffle under the desk as I worked. She got the wrong first impression. Anyway, experiment over. I'll change this to a standard non-chargeable battery. I have a 5M42-0E50 which still runs on the same standard Renata SR920 battery since 2019. dudlei, I'll double check this when I get home later in the evening.

For today, I’m sporting the SRPK17K1. How do you like the bracelet? I don’t like the fit at all and had to change to a new, aftermarket, vintage style beads of rice. It did not conform to my wrist and was more oval-like on the wrist rather than round. Unfortunate for me because I like the look.

Maybe I have odd-shaped wrists though

Before that they had a cell which would hold charge roughly for a week. Those cells give a bad rap to Kinetic (often worn out and hold charge poorly compared to Eco-Drives). One can upgrade and "fix" their old kinetic simply swapping in a Panasonic MT920 cell, with removing the Seiko proprietary tab attached on to the old one and using it as connector for the new cell (removing requires some tinkering). I have done it and it works well (plain MT920 costs around 5£ with postage). ouroboros Have you done a swap? When I changed the cell I was wondering if the reason for the "low" charge was due to circuit unable to read and display the new cell properly (7 days vs. 6 months). Then again I read somewhere that people had been wearing their watches for month or so daily to get theirs to budge.
