The comments pretty much sum it up.
These 14 Milwaukee intersections have seen the most car crashes in a year
Drake Bentley, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
Driving in Milwaukee is dangerous. That's what public officials, community leaders, and social media timelines have long said.
This week brought another stark reminder when six people died in early Monday morning crashes that also left six people hospitalized. The fatal victims included a 1-year-old girl and three teens.
The crash was the result of a car traveling 80 miles per hour and running a red light and occurred at a hot spot for reckless driving, West Fond du Lac Avenue, according to the Milwaukee Police Department.
Fond du Lac Avenue is a state highway that runs diagonally through northwest Milwaukee, creating a number of dangerous 3-way intersections.
In the most recent traffic data available from MPD, Fond du Lac Avenue appears five times in a listing of what the department considers the top crash intersections in the city.
Here are the worst intersections for crashes and hit-and-runs between May 2021 and May 2022: At least 81 crashes have occurred where Fond du Lac Avenue, Capitol Drive and 51st Boulevard intersect
The crossing of two of Milwaukee's most prominent streets — West Fond du Lac Avenue and West Capitol Drive — is considered one of the most dangerous intersections in the city.
Milwaukee police reported 43 crashes at the intersection in a year's time, with 12 considered hit-and-runs. The intersection is tied for the most crashes in the city.
The intersection is close to the Carson Academy of Science and the popular food spot, Zaza's Steak & Lemonade, sits on the corner.
More: 'We're tired, we're afraid': Milwaukee activist Tracey Dent gathered over 1,000 petition signatures addressing reckless driving
Another nearby intersection — North 51st Boulevard and West Fond du Lac Avenue — is among the top five crash intersections. Police reported 38 crashes in a year, with 10 hit-and-runs. Another 81 crashes occurred at where Fond du Lac Avenue, Center Street and 27th Street intersect
The intersection tied for the most crashes in the city is North 27th Street and West Center Street. Police reported 43 crashes in a year, including 18 hit-and-runs.
Nearby is where North 27th Street crosses with West Fond du Lac Avenue, which saw 40 crashes in a year, including 16 hit-and-runs.
Also in the same immediate vicinity and considered one of the worst crash intersections in the city is West Center Street and West Fond du Lac Avenue. Police reported 38 crashes in a year, including 10 hit-and-runs.
Among the notable spots along this set of intersections are the Wisconsin Black Historical Society, Milwaukee Public Library Center Street Branch, and Fryerz, a late-night food spot. Intersections of Fond du Lac Avenue, Burleigh Street and 35th Street saw more than 110 crashes
One crossing of three prominent streets on the city's north side saw more than 110 crashes in a year.
The intersection of West Burleigh Street and West Fond du Lac Avenue resulted in 37 crashes in a year, including 16 hit-and-runs, according to police.
North 35th Street and West Burleigh Street saw 36 crashes, with 14 hit-and-runs and North 35th Street and West Fond du Lac Avenue saw 34 crashes, including 12 hit-and-runs.
Nearby, along Fond du Lac Avenue, is the Sherman Phoenix, a hub for Black entrepreneurs and small businesses. Across the street is Police District 7.
35th Street and Capitol Drive third most crashes in Milwaukee Ranked third for the worst crash intersections in the city is North 35th Street and West Capitol Drive. Police reported 41 crashes, including 18 hit-and-runs. The intersection is home to some shops and a self-storage facility. 27th Street, Teutonia Avenue and Hampton Avenue intersect Another crossing of three prominent streets on the city's north side is North 27th Street, North Teutonia Avenue, and West Hampton Avenue. The intersection saw 34 crashes, including 15 hit-and-runs. North 27th Street ends when it joins with Teutonia Avenue, but resumes a block away just south of Hampton Avenue. An Advance Auto Parts store sits prominently on this intersection. 32 crashes occurred at 60th Street and Silver Spring Drive Near Westlawn Gardens on the city's northwest side is the intersection of North 60th Street and West Silver Spring Drive. The intersection saw 32 crashes in a year, including 14 hit-and-runs. 60th Street and Capitol Drive saw 32 car crashes Police also reported 32 crashes, including 12 hit-and-runs at North 60th Street and West Capitol Drive. Two people died in a crash at the intersection in 2021. The intersection is close to the Midtown Shopping Center, the largest retail center in the city. 32 crashes reported at Sherman Boulevard and Capitol Drive West Capitol Drive crossing with North Sherman Boulevard is also a problematic intersection. Police reported 32 crashes, including 12 hit-and-runs. More: 'Total disregard': Sherman Park residents are fed up with reckless driving. Here's how one resident is trying to stop it. 32 crashes occurred where Cesar Chavez Drive, Muskego Avenue and Greenfield Avenue intersect The only intersection, among the top crash intersections, not on the north side of Milwaukee is a south side intersection where three streets cross. Police reported 32 crashes, including 14 hit-and-runs, at South Cesar Chavez Drive, South Muskego Avenue, and West Greenfield Avenue, where Pete's Fruit Market and a Chase Bank sit prominently.

Milwaukee DPW workers chased and shot at in paintball attack
A city spokesperson said two young males chased two workers before shooting at them.
MILWAUKEE — A Milwaukee Department of Public Works employee was shot twice in the back with paintballs. It's one of multiple attacks reported in Milwaukee on Thursday.
It happened around 11:40 a.m. Thursday near 42nd and Townsend streets.
According to a DPW spokesperson, two DPW forestry workers were in the area planting trees.
Two young males got out of a vehicle and chased the workers while shooting at them. One of the workers was hit in the back twice with paintballs but was not hurt.
The DPW spokesperson said the young males then returned to their car and drove off in an early 2000s black Chevy Impala. The vehicle did not have any license plates.
The DPW workers then called 911.
"The dispatcher stated they had received a number of calls regarding similar incidents that day," said the DPW spokesperson.

So a Shitty low rent Dollar Store was OK but not a low rent liquor store
The smoke shop is only 6 blocks away on 76 and center
I GUARANTEE you both of those "Day Cares" are welfare fronts stealing tax payer dollars for welfare recips kids who never showed up one day and all took Corona bailout funds.
All of the low low rent clientele have enough liquor stores in their hood that they don't need to come to your less hood zone to buy liquor.

Neighbors upset over proposed liquor store near two Milwaukee day cares
'I'm all about businesses ... but what disturbed me was that it was going to be a liquor store'
MILWAUKEE — A proposed liquor store on Milwaukee's northwest side is raising concern for neighbors. That's because it would be located directly next door to a day care and across the street from another.
The proposed location is on West Burleigh Street between North 79th and North 80th streets.
"I'm all about businesses, you know, people having the ability to take care of their family, but what disturbed me was that it was going to be a liquor store," Steven Williams, who works near the currently vacant building, said Tuesday. "In my opinion, it's going to disrupt the area to have that type of traffic coming in."
Both day care owners are against the idea. The same goes for parents WISN 12 News spoke with Tuesday.
"I wouldn't want that there, not by my kid," Jonathan Lamar Watts-Braggs, a day care parent, said. "It is going to bring in the wrong crowd. It's safe how it is right now.
According to city regulations, a liquor store cannot be within 300 feet of a day care unless it receives an exemption from a majority of the city's common council.
The store owner behind this new business told 12 News he's aware of the ordinance, and in a statement, said, "I have been working with the Alderman to learn about the neighbor concerns and are working on ways to address the concerns that have already been brought forth."

I guess he was trying for the gas can point in the anniversary contest
Bustin' a cap in dudes ass while holding a gas can
Then was brazen enough to stick around and keep pumping gas until he got what he came for and then left
Stay off the Northside even in broad daylight.
"Following the shooting, police say the shooter filled up a gas can, got into his car and left."
Crime Stoppers: Bystander shoots man seen beating girlfriend at Milwaukee gas station
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A bystander took matters into his own hands after witnessing another man beating his girlfriend in public. Is he a hero or a vigilante? Milwaukee police say, no matter his intent, he broke the law and hope either you can help or he will turn himself in.
Milwaukee police shared video of a man seen firing shots at a red Jeep; the driver and passenger were left injured.
"He saw something, he did something," said Milwaukee Police Department Det. Ed Fitting.
Multiple surveillance cameras caught the incident that happened around 11 a.m. on June 5. Video shows a man get out of a red Jeep at the 24-Seven gas station, located across from Checkers restaurant on Teutonia and North Avenue.
Police say the man was captured on video arguing with his girlfriend who was seen walking to the gas station. After about 15 seconds, the man's girlfriend is seen walking away and police say the man followed her. Once under the shadow of a gas pump awning, the man is seen pulling the woman's hair from behind and wrestling her to the ground. He proceeded to slap and punch the woman multiple times.
According to police, another man a few gas pumps away witnessed the incident.
After about 30 seconds, police say the woman got up and walking away; the man retreated to his Jeep -- where officials say his other girlfriend was sitting inside.
Moments later, police say the man who witnessed the shooting pulled out a gun and started shooting into the Jeep.
"I understand what he may be thinking that he was trying to help, but it was 10:50 in the morning the streets or busy, bullets won't stop until they hit something, you're putting other people in danger," said Det. Fitting.
Following the shooting, police say the shooter filled up a gas can, got into his car and left. Det. Fitting says that wasn't the best move either.
"If he believed the female was in danger, which is why he did what he did, his best course of action would have been to stay there, talk with police so they could get his side of the story and why he did what he did. Driving away probably makes it look a little worse," said Fitting.
Milwaukee police tracked down the driver of the red Jeep and arrested him. Detectives still need to talk to the shooter to get his side of the story.
"I understand what he might have been thinking about but still you've got to take accountability for acting on those impulse," Fitting said.
If you know anything about this shooting, or recognize the shooter, you're urged to call Milwaukee Crime Stoppers at 414-224-TIPS (8477). You can also submit a tip through the P3 Tips App. Your call is always anonymous, handled by an out-of-state tipline. If your tip leads to an arrest, you get cash.

I wonder how much of all that misspent and unaccounted for "Office Of Violence Prevention" scandal money they got?
Organization for at-risk youth forced to pause after car crashes into headquarters
Leaders of an organization that helps at-risk youth put their work on pause after a car crashed into their building killing two passengers.
MILWAUKEE — Leaders of an organization that helps at-risk youth put their work on pause after a car crashed into their building killing two passengers.
The building at 23rd Street and W. Hopkins Street is the headquarters for Glow 414. The team empowers young people by offering mentoring and counseling, as well as, transitional living spaces.
Building owner and Glow 414's founder Mickell Daniels struggled to fight back her tears.
"We have groups for social and emotional needs for our youth in the inner city of Milwaukee. We're in the process of launching our outpatient center. I'm a therapist so just giving back because we're in a mental health crisis right now, so now that has to stop. There are not too many facilities in 53206," Daniels said.
The building is boarded up and surrounded by debris after a car crashed into it...While eluding police.
"If you look really closely, you can see pieces of the car. You have to imagine how fast they were going," Daniels said.
It is an overwhelming scene for Daniels. Her brother was shot and killed last month, and she thinks of the two women who lost their lives in the crash. Daniels said one of the women fits the age range that Glow 414 serves.
"Let's not forget that that was someone's daughter that possibly was someone's sister, so don't be so quick to judge," Daniels said.
Daniels is just starting the hard work to figure out how Glow 414 will continue its mission to help others.
Sifting through the damage she found encouragement including a sign that said "inspire," her son's award from school, and a picture of when she first started Glow 414.
Daniels is determined to figure it out and hopes the community will be by her side.
"I'm not going to give up. Let me do my deep breaths. Let me get these little tears out because I'm not gonna stop because it's bigger than me. The community still needs Glow. The community still needs mental health services," Daniels said.
Daniels said they have insurance but it's too early to know what it will cover. She started a gofundme account to help continue Glow 414's work. To donate, click here.

Winner winner chicken dinner
Remember I went to Northside public schools so someone help me with the math and common sense here
"Latayja Hargraves, 24 . . . Inside the vehicle, police discovered Hargraves' five children crying. The children, ranging from ages two to nine years old"
"in 2020, Hargraves was convicted of driving a vehicle without the owner's consent, a felony" and then she's back on the streets continuing to be a law abiding citizen.
"Hargraves is being held on a $20,000 bond" Um yeah that is why it keeps happening over and over. Anyone want to get your wagers in that even as a convicted felon she only gets probation for all of the charges.
Woman charged after Milwaukee hit-and-run, crash with 5 kids in her car
The children in the vehicle, ranging from ages two to nine years old, were all unbuckled during the incident
MILWAUKEE — A Milwaukee woman was charged Tuesday after prosecutors say she was involved in a hit-and-run, a chase, and a crash, all while she had five children in her car last week.
Latayja Hargraves, 24, is facing a total of 11 charges, including five counts of neglecting a child, first-degree recklessly endangering safety, fleeing from police, and criminal property damage.
According to a criminal complaint, Milwaukee police responded to a home near 36th and Florist around 10:30 p.m. Thursday, June 22 for an entry complaint.
A man told police Hargraves, who had recently been dating his son, arrived at his home and was banging on his door, yelling to let her in. When he refused, he found Hargraves breaking his car windows with "some kind of metal object," the complaint says.
When the man tried to make her stop, she began striking him in the face and body with the metal object. As the two tussled, the complaint says children were yelling, "Don't touch my mama!"
At this point, police arrived on the scene and saw a driver, later identified as Hargraves, speed over a curb onto the lawn and strike the man. The man was airborne before he landed on the hood of the vehicle. The complaint says Hargraves then reversed back into the street, and the man fell to the ground.
Police attempted to pull Hargraves over, but she sped off. During the police pursuit, Hargraves blew several stop signs and a red light. In the process, the complaint says she struck two vehicles at an intersection. Her vehicle and the other two cars were all totaled. A traffic light pole was torn out of the ground as a result.
Hargraves was arrested and "appeared to be intoxicated," the complaint says.
Inside the vehicle, police discovered Hargraves' five children crying. The children, ranging from ages two to nine years old, were all unbuckled. Only one child was injured.
Hargraves is being held on a $20,000 bond and returns to court on July 5 for a preliminary hearing. If convicted of all charges, she faces a maximum of over 90 years in prison and a $200,000 fine.
The complaint says in 2020, Hargraves was convicted of driving a vehicle without the owner's consent, a felony.

One injured in shooting on an MCTS bus, police seek suspect
MILWAUKEE — A 41-year-old man was injured in a shooting on a Milwaukee County Transit System bus Thursday, and now police are looking for the shooter.
The shooting happened near Sherman and Capitol around 11:45 a.m.
Police say the victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment, but the severity of his injuries is unknown.
The circumstances leading to the shooting are still under investigation, but police are seeking a suspect who is pictured at the top of this article.
He is in his 30s and between 5-foot-7 and 5-foot-10. He's in his 30s and was last seen wearing dark clothes, a bucket-style hat, a white facemask, and was armed with a handgun.
Denise Wandke, Milwaukee County Transit System President and Managing Director, issued a statement via MCTS, saying:
“We’re deeply saddened by the random act of violence that happened on the bus yesterday. Gun violence anywhere in Milwaukee County is unacceptable. We cannot tolerate behaviors that threaten the safety and comfort of transit workers and riders who depend on MCTS.
We are actively engaged in creating and supporting a safe environment throughout the community. We collaborate with the Milwaukee Police Department, Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Department, and our own transportation safety team. Know that if anyone commits a crime on any MCTS bus, we will do everything we can to be sure you are brought to justice. We have 10 cameras on every bus, so that’s 3,000 cameras across millions of miles throughout the county, nearly 24 hours a day, every day of the year. We work hand-in-hand with local law enforcement to help ensure we have a safe and secure public transit system for everyone.
The bus is one of the safest places in the community and we’re committed to keeping it that way.”
Yeah, cuz all of the criminals get off of them and then start stealing, fighting, and shooting once they get off
If you have any information regarding this incident, please contact the Milwaukee Police Department at 414-935-7360 or Crime Stoppers at 414-224-TIPS.

Triple shootout in U-Haul truck at Milwaukee gas station
The shooting happened just after 11 p.m. near 27th and Lisbon. Milwaukee Police arrested an 18-year-old in connection to the shooting.
MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee Police are investigating a triple shooting that happened just after 11 p.m. Thursday night outside the BP gas station on 27th and Lisbon.
Milwaukee Police say a 40-year-old was shot and taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
An 18-year-old suspect is in custody after police say they showed up to a local hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound.
Police say an additional 29-year-old victim called for medical assistance shortly before 1:00 a.m. Friday morning near N. 39th Street.
12 News obtained surveillance video from the gas station. Video shows two people walk out of the gas station mart before approaching a U-Haul that had been parked at a pump for over an hour. One person opens the passenger side door to the truck and fires inside while two other suspects open fire into the driver side door. All three suspects then run off.
The 40-year-old victim falls out of the truck and a passenger from the U-Haul gets out, checks on the victim then walks off.
Five minutes go by. As the victim bleeds out on the ground surveillance video shows multiple people walk in and out of the gas station. No one goes over to help the victim until police and paramedics arrive, taking the victim away in an ambulance.

Carjacking witness told by dispatcher 'police wouldn't be responding'
Milwaukee woman says dispatcher wouldn't forward call to police
MILWAUKEE — An older Milwaukee woman says she was outraged after calling 911 to report a carjacking and was told there would be no police response.
A shocking sight in a quiet northwest side neighborhood a couple of weeks ago as a 64-year-old woman was carjacked in her own driveway.
“All of a sudden, they're rippin' her out of her car, throwing her on the ground,” said a witness who didn’t wish to be identified. “And I thought, nope, and I went and grabbed the phone and called 911.”
The older neighbor who saw the whole thing is still shaken. But as shocking as it was, she said it got worse when the 911 operator answered.
“And I'm telling him what's going on, as it's happening, and he says, 'Well, we don't send anybody out for that.'” The woman insists she made it clear the carjacking was happening as she was calling. “Yeah. I said they're carjacking her car; they just threw her on the ground,” she said.
Court documents support her account. A criminal complaint against the accused robber indicates the 911 caller was told police don't respond to car thefts, even though this was clearly a carjacking, which Milwaukee police do respond to.
“I'm not even going to tell you what I said to him over the phone,” she said, but then expanded further. “I said, ‘What the eff are you talking about?’ I said, ‘They just ripped her out of her car, threw her on the ground,’ and he said, ‘We don't send anyone out for that,’ and I said ‘Well then, what the hell do we pay you for?’”
She hung up on him and helped the victim herself, driving her to the Milwaukee Police District 4 station to make the report. “They couldn't believe that 911 didn't send anybody,” she said.
Police found the stolen car abandoned and damaged not far away near 92nd and Silver Spring and arrested the 16-year-old boy suspected in the robbery.
The carjacking victim said she injured her wrist when she was thrown to the ground and is still feeling pain two weeks later. She said the incident has left her anxious and scared, even though the suspect is under arrest.
The neighbor who called 911 said there has been no follow-up or explanation about why the dispatcher didn’t send police to the scene. “The police apologized 8 million times, but, you know, what are they going to do? If they're not notified, they can't come out,” the caller said.
Milwaukee Police told WISN 12 News they’re “looking into” what happened. 12 News also repeatedly asked the Milwaukee Department of Emergency Communications for a comment, but they didn’t respond.

Only a couple of blocks from where I grew up
Gun battle in Milwaukee leads to 'war zone' comparisons
Dozens of shots fired in 'wild and random' outburst
MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee police are investigating the scene of a gun battle early Wednesday morning that involved dozens of shots fired but no injuries.
As the gun battle waged outside her house at 21st and Vliet streets, Kayla Richardson said she felt she was in a war zone.
"At 12:45 last night, it was like a mini war outside, from the side of my house to the alley to the back to the front I just had to hit the floor because I got a newborn and my kids are at home and my husband," Richardson said.
Milwaukee police found at least 60 shots fired, Somehow no one was hit. Richardson said she could hear different caliber weapons from several directions.
"All types of guns and they basically let out all their clips. After it was gone and done, I still stayed on the floor just to make sure," she said.
"We were sleeping, and then we heard the shooting," she said. "We ran to the bathroom, we closed the door, my daughter started crying, all the kids were crying, scared, kids were all scared."
She said she kept them home from school Wednesday because they were so scared they couldn’t go back to sleep.
"Whoever was shooting was shooting wild and random," said witness Anne Gregory. "Honestly, I thought that I was going to get shot. There were so many bullets. You could not count. It was terrifying. It was like you'd hear basically clip after clip after clip. I was like this is what it's like to be in Ukraine right now."
As she surveyed the damage, Gregory said she was afraid for her safety and afraid for the safety of her children.
"I don't want to live here anymore. I grew up in this neighborhood. I don't want to be here anymore. I want out."
Milwaukee police said they continue to investigate the shooting, but so far, have not made any arrests. The bullets struck cars, houses, and trees as the two sides fired at each other. One video obtained by WISN 12 News showed three people running off, firing an automatic weapon as they ran.
A bullet from the battle went through Jaqueline Reyes' window.

"I got a newborn and my kids are at home and my husband,"
Reminded me of when our house caught fire. My wife grabbed my daughter and went back in for the dog and left me sleeping. Oh and my husband...Like she forgot she was married!

C'mon man, sounds like she had her priorities almost correct. She should have gotten the dog first!

I tell that story every chance I get. She hates it "Since I made it out alive" I tell it that had a list of things on here hand "In case of a fire" 1. save children 2. Save Dog and because she has small hands that's where the list ended...That said the same thing happened to my kid brother while he was napping in his crib. My grandmother was over helping out and they turned on the Central air ( spring 1977) and all of a sudden the house started to fill with smoke! They called the fire department (no 911 yet) and when they showed up it was the drive belt for the fan. AT which point as the story goes my mom and grandmother looked at each other and said "THE BABY!" who was still sleeping soundly in his crib. While these stories had reasonably happy endings. I see how sometimes they don't. Muscle memory is a powerful thing.

At least she had the decency to go into the store and say phuk OFF before leaving
"If you didn't want your store to get hit you shouldn't have built it there" is the typical Nortshsider mentality

Car crashes into Milwaukee liquor store, owner says driver left scene
MILWAUKEE - A car crashed into a Milwaukee liquor store on Friday afternoon, Feb. 23.
It happened at Sunshine Liquor & Beer near 36th and Villard. The owner shared surveillance video with FOX6 News and said the driver came inside after the crash – but said she did not have insurance and was not going to pay for the damage.
The owner said the driver then left, leaving the car – which had no license plates – at the scene.
No one appeared to be hurt as a result of the crash.
FOX6 reached out to the Milwaukee Police Department for information, but has not heard back.
