Picked these up today at the Central States Coin Show today. Does that really say 1734??? 1794 The coin was most likely lost and ended up buried in the dirt until someone found it or dug it up metal detecting. If it didn't have porous surfaces it would be a $1300 or more coin.

I really gotta put one of my pre Christian days Chinese coins in my pocket for some occidental luck 7dfe79adc2f0

I really gotta put one of my pre Christian days Chinese coins in my pocket for some occidental luck 7dfe79adc2f0 Against my retirement judgement I paid $265 for the lot. At the show as usual Stacks Bowers auctioneers had a mega booth and on display was over a few million dollar worth of wares to be auctioned off at the next major upcoming show. One of which was a 1992 1 Kilogram gold Chinese Panda to go with the 4 lesser but almost as substantial 1990-1996 Pandas in the average of 20oz gold each coin. And there were the usual 1 case with 4 coins in it booths which were a hundreds of thousands of dollars pissing contest. I was at a table and the guy on the "buying" side was talking to the woman on the "selling' side about how he had talked to the owner earlier about the proof 68 Barber Half and he said he was at $24 and the boss was at $29. She said show could call the boss but he said they were too far off. Before I saw him hand the coin back I was thinking $2,400. Turns out it was $24,000. There was at least 1 or maybe 2 BILLION dollars of inventory on display (and I am sure much more at the dealers stores). And this is a 3rd tier show. You go to the ANA shows and you could balance the national debt if everything sold.

Now that Josh is back, I can reveal one of the gifts he sent me along with the t-shirts... I am looking for a nice holder that I can put it in to attach to my keys. Definitely don't want to drill any holes in it! The last pics shows where it had been in a holder; there are four identical marks at equal quadrants on the coin. Thanks Josh, this is a keeper 7dfe79adc2f0

I finally got some good boxes. I couldn't pick up my 4 boxes from BMO last Friday because 3 customers decided to come in to work 5 minutes before we close and waste my time for another 30 minutes so now the bank is closed and I am still at work So I go there yesterday and they tell me they ordered me another 4 boxes plus the 4 sitting there from last week. I grab 4 boxes. Box 1 had an ender. 17 40%ers including a 1970  and a couple of NIFC including a 1987 P & D. Box 2 had an ender. 3 40%ers and a plugged holed. Box 3 had an ender. 7 40%ers and a 1964. Box 5 had 7 40%ers.

Thanks Josh, this is a keeper 7dfe79adc2f0 Your obverse picture does the coin more justice than mine. Your reverse picture hides the beautiful toning. The coin most likely was removed from a belt buckle where the obverse was expose and the reverse was protected. Peters pis vs my pics show why you must beware buying anything on Ebay or the internet without seeing it in hand first. Lots of lighting tricks photoshopping going on there. In peters pic the obverse looks 10 times better than mine in terms of the extent of the hits as well as the coins color. My pic of the reverse shows the toning while his does not. Unless Peter cleaned the coin which had better not have as the would be sacrilege I would bid on it and overpay based on his pics.

Photoshop does a wonderful job of cleaning and softening up the dings The difference in lighting is partly because I brought the levels up a bit with PS. Yor pictures definitely do justice to the actual condition.

Great looking coin regardless of minor imperfections. Wish mine wasn't locked into an acrylic paperweight. There's something about being able to handle them, even if that is not done to higher end examples.
