I remember when I was a kid, when we visited my uncles in the country. My dad and uncle Joe sitting on the porch with a beer, I would occasionally get a swig of Carling Red Cap. Tasted pretty good back then. It disappeared for quite a while but was brought back out a few years back. No idea if it tastes the same now, but back then, as good as the first swallow today.
Just did some googling. Carling brewery was also started in My home town, London Ont. in 1840. Red cap is now produced by Brick brewing in Kitchener Ont.

Good evening Peter
That looks to be a rather strong beer at 8%. How does it taste?

Now Warsteiner I know we have. A quick check shows just the premium Pilsner. I did try these for the first time tonight. Striking out on the Danish Stout, I came up with the Faxe Danish beer. Surprisingly smooth for a 10%'er. Tipping the charts at 9% was the Belgian Chimay extra strong Ale. Good but not as nice as the Faxe or the other Chimay I have tried. I too find the Chimay Red a nicer beverage Agree on the red, it's good stuff. If you like the Belgian Abbey and Trappist ales you gotta try Rochefort. It's a Trappist from Belgium. The 8 and 10 are my favorites.

I picked up a 24-pack of Harpoon IPA for $22 at Costco. I'd say it's worth at least that much.

Glad you have a stunner wrapped around the base. Looks a bit cloudy, unfiltered? By the way they are all my favorite beer gardens, I just don't get to visit very often anymore!

I changed outlets to a larger store with a wider selection and came home with another Belgian. This one appears not to have any association with known monks. Fairly heavy I think with a more roasted and bitter edge rather than coffee or chocolate. Not something for a hot summer day.

Anyone ever try any of the Russian beers? I used to buy Baltika 9 for a good price at the local distributor. Pretty tasty and had a nice kick. Not my pic but this is what to look for:

I think for most of us a good beer is a must at the end of a shitty week/day at work. Nothing like a good muscle relaxant to feather it all away.

Out on a bucks party pub crawl tonight and we stopped in at a new micro brewery so I went for the paddle to get a taste for their wares. In order, summer ale, amber ale, saison and porter. Porter was very very good. Edit: porter then saison. Feeling the effects :-)

Phutzing around the kitchen tonight making up some roasted red pepper hummus enjoying one of these. I've had this type a few times lately and really enjoy them. It puts me in mind of what a beer may have tasted like years ago. I had to take a bit of a pause while the stick blender cooled down some. It seems to go quicker doing 2 small batches rather then tackling a 28 oz can of chickpeas all at once. While in the cool down process I didn't want to be left out so... I had one of these, brewed by one of our local craft breweries about a mile from me. Not the hoppy flavour that seems in vougue but a nice Ale with a bitter edge. While savoring the nuances in flavour I checked out their website to discover quite a few new brews not carried at the regular retail outlets. I see they have a few Belgian style brews as well. I'm going to have to get a cab over to have a sample of their wares. Growlers too I see. If you fancy a look, www.forkedriverbrewing.comQuite a process getting in the govt. outlets let alone elseware, so I don't think you will find them far afield. I have also tried their Weendigo, a bourbon barrel aged imperial stout that is also very good. Got back to the hummus after a bowl of Moroccan chic pea & lentil soup and finished it off. Now chilling for a snack later.

Something new from one of Vancouver's better and most prolific craft breweries... This is pretty much a standard lager at a higher quality level. On the side of the can, it says 'Best Served: East of Main and REALLY FRICKIN cold!' I had one last night that wasn't REALLY ICE Cold so it was just another run of the mill brew. Today and after being in the beer fridge over night; the beer is truly FRICKIN COLD! What a difference the temp makes 7dfe79adc2f0

Free dinner and free beer (limit 2 tonight) It helps that your boss doesn't drink so now if is free beer limit 4  I hadn't planned on drinking tonight but after a few "good" beers I had to stop at the grocery store in Tosa across from the Darwin train tracks featured in the World Traveler thread and pick up some more "good" or at last better than the malt liquor in Hobo Silos®™ I had had to endure for the last 9 months. And of course some homeless dude had to accost me outside the store and give me some long and drawn out sob story about needing money for a hotel room until his friend in Texas sens him a bus ticket to leave at 3AM Saturday morning which sounded pretty well rehearsed but since it was cold out I gave him $2 in dollar coins. Why the good beer and helping the dredges of society? Cuz I'm Rich Bitch or at least finally debt free as of 9:20 this morning. I tried the Duvel, the Westmalle Dubbel, and 2 of the LAkefront Brewery IPA. Also re appropriated a new beer glass. You have to use a damn bottle opener to open this shit There were 2 Fuel Cafe (local bar and restaurant here) bottles in there so I think some fag went and switched out the missing one from my 6er with the one he wanted doubles of in his. phuking douchebag suburban richie phuk pussies.
