You're right Louis. I would never rely on a watch as my primary. Always dive with a computer. ( although the dives/approx depth and time are usually planned) I mostly watch my air. I use a back up dive watch to time the dive.

Hello WS, So I decided to take some risks and leave the comfort of the Seiko vintage watches universe, where the codes engraved onto the caseback say what is the movement for sure, where the codes of the crystals or the gaskets say what is their sizes, shapes or material and where we can find plenty document about such as parts lists and servicing procedures on the Internet π I bought 3 vintage Citizen. First, we have this Seven Star Deluxe, which is obviously in the wrong casing as the caseback says it is a Crystal seven. And typing its code on google leads quickly to the right model. But I bought it knowing that and the price was so low, I donβt mind too much. If I assume the movement follows the dial, it is probably a 5270 18.000bph according toΒ this great documentΒ made by Stephen fromΒ sweep-hand.org.Β It has no day quickset, canβt hack but can be manually wound. Please correct me if Iβm wrong. Fortunately, it appears the Sternkreuz XMF 307.879 is an appropriate replacement for the crystal. Regarding the gaskets, I have no information about the dimensions but at least they should be quite common : 2 gaskets for the crystal, 1 flat and 1 o-ring, 1 flat gasket for the caseback and of course a small o-ring for the crown. Iβll have to measure them directly on the watch. It seems that Citizen went cheap for the crown which is plated and well worn. Iβll need to find a NOS part to replace it. So it will be my first Citizen, more or less a kind of training for the following. Then comes the Leopard. I got it for only 2800 yens, probably because the small feline silhouette is missing on the dial of that model. But again fromΒ sweep-hand website,Β I can see this model is fully legit.Β catalog picture. The movement should be a 7220 beating at 28800bph, at least I hope it is. I expect all those features : hand winding, instant day and date changing, hacking and fine regulator but still no day quickset. Again Iβm surprise, the crown is not solid S/S on this upper range model. Another NOS part to search. No replacement crystal listed at Sternkreuz, none genuine one can be found for sale. Iβll try polishing. And again, no information on the gaskets, except that the cross section of the crystal gasket is oval (thank you Citizen βΉ) and the caseback gasket is more classically a flat one. I really like this design so I hope I will not mess with the restoration. Last is the most risky of the 3 since it has obviously an issue with the day indicator but I couldnβt resist this design : inner rotating bezel (despite the red area has faded away), blue hands and blue square dots onto the indexes, vertical display of the day and date at 6 and a good 7290 movement, from the same family of the Leopard above but with only 21600bph, no instant day-date changing, no fine regulator. And maybe the bracelet is original. I need to dig a little more on that. Here is the Custom v2. And once again I got most of my information fromΒ sweep-handAgain, no spare part can be easily found for the crystal and the gaskets. Wish me good luck! Any additional information about those Citizen will be very welcome. rossr might be able to help you with information about these. I was bidding on that Leopard too! Lucky you.

I just got this in today. I'm not a diver but I've always wanted this kit. It's in perfect condition but the buttons are a little sticky. The watch is packed up and on its way to the CITIZEN service center for a new battery and major service π. Aloha If you are not a Diver they are good and nice to have. I have had these but found out when using it ... For Diving they get complicated to use when on a Dive and do not register to much about .... The Dive. When Diving especially in ... Murky Waters they are hard to read and takes to much time to regulate properly. It is ... A Lot Safer to use it as a Back Up and use a .... Computer to get Faster and Exact Readings. Haha! That's good to know but there won't be any diving going on over here. I just like the watch and I I've always thought the kit was pretty cool. Also, I couldn't pass on a great deal.

Next time then π Oh, regarding the day quickset, the 72 does not have this feature, you have to cycle back to 9pm and forward again to change it. It is implemented in the 77 series, albeit differently.

Of course the original caseback is very nice, but as the 4522 movement is a thing of beauty and it's very simple job to swap over, why not wear this every now and then.

I always say it was meant to be. There's always another.
Seikoshepard beat me on an unmolested 6105-8000 Resist/Resist with original waffle strap! Not only a rarer dial and case back, but the original strap!
He had the nerve to post it here a week later and you all "oooooh'd and aaaah'd" over it

Very nice base for Restoration project during the Confinement.... I saw that one. Commented to myself on the fantastic overall condition minus the bezel ding at 3 o'clock. It has the DNA collection in all the spots that indicate an unpolished case Nice score! It'll clean up beautifully. Nice to see no case back scratch marks from some dolt trying to open it.

I just kicked these up. Should be here by next Tuesday. Both Elgin sportsmanβs are full stainless. And got a couple of bonus watches to tinker with.
