I just received a first generation two-tone Citizen Aqualand C022 from 1993! It was a one-owner watch from Japan and the condition is immaculate, but the batteries were never removed after it stopped running… There was clearly leakage, and I did some simple cleaning and put in a set of fresh batteries. Unfortunately the analogue movement doesn’t seem to work, though the digital LCD clock and the depth meter seems to be in fine condition. I might just strip it apart to clean the gears and re-oil them (though this would be my first Aqualand I’d be taking apart, or any watch for that matter). Fingers crossed the analogue movement will be running again!

I have been looking for an all original unmolested one of these 6309 7290s for a long time to fill a gap in my Seiko Diver family collection. Fingers crossed!

Fingers crossed the analogue movement will be running again! Might not want to try this as your first attempt. We had a guy here try that once on a absolutely stunning 6309. He scratched the dial taking the hands off because he kept chasing them with the levers as it was running vs/ just putting a piece if clear plastic over them, which would have stopped the hands...

wxI agree with small Most of us are self taught and I could imagine most of us started with less demanding/less valuable jobs. Watch in question is not too demanding after you have learned the basics and have the tools. I'd recommend you get 5-10 non running japanese quartz watches from the 70-80s and learn with them! You'll get them for 5-15USD a piece. Dissasmebling and assembling them will teach you the basic to take on that Citizen! You don't have to get them running, mind you. I'd say most critical steps are aligning the wheels correctly, get the main bridge in place without breaking the rotor pivot and learning how to handle the tools/learn which tools you need (trust me, your muscles and eyes need the practice). Anyone can take a watch apart, but the assembly is the tricky part.

I made it 4 months without buying a watch.
My latest purchase came 2 weeks ago and the other watch was a pre sale and just shipped and I haven't even got it yet and now this comes along and I had to buy one.
That is why I have said since day 1 DO NOT GET YOUR WATCH SERVICED.
You send it off to one of those well known watchmakers with a year long wait list and when you finally get it back you have already bought 5 new watches and no longer want the watch you sent in.
So now I will have only worn my latest watch for 3 weeks when the next one shows up which I can only wear for a week til this one shows up

Chuffed to add this September 1973 “reverse lume” 6139-6002. My research shows this type was around for a short while. I have a better bezel and a bracelet. A new crystal with the service and it’ll look great. A cool piece for my Pogue collection. Seller photos

I’m not big on watch boxes for vintage watches. I’m glad I don’t have a box for every watch I own because I’d need an extra closet just for them if so. But I plan on giving away and selling lots of watches over time. I have sold a fair amount in the past and always like to ship them in a nice box maybe with a little swag inside sometimes too. I know most people are not sick idiots like me that have an insane number of watches so they like having a decent box to put their watch away in. I buy cheap boxes on Amazon that have a little pillow inside and for the special watches, I step it up a notch and spend a bit more. So when I saw this lot on Y!J, I snatched it up because it comes out to $7 a box and I think that’s not too bad. There’s a nice fat pillow and micro fiber cloth inside too.

Aww, you remembered!
So it turned out that the Tag was a hit. Fortunately her near eyesight is getting as poor as mine so I guess she never noticed the gilt rubbing. Or maybe she just didn't want me to feel bad about it. Anyway, everything went along swimmingly for two months until it stopped. No problem I figured, I'd just swap in a new battery and it'd be back in action. That wasn't it. The old battery was still going strong and a new battery didn't get it back up and running. Now she's disappointed.
So I said to heck with it and went looking. The Breitlings I found in blue were Dook Blue, so those were not good. And so I expanded my search. And look for automatic since apparently you can't trust a Swiss quartz. And since she was happy with the gold and silver Tag, I figured (fingers crossed) she'll like this Tudor. If not - it's got all its links, so with a bracelet expander it'd probably fit me and I'd wear it - I've sort of wanted a Tudor anyway

These aren't bad.
"Tiffany" blue.
I gifted one to my mother.
Sapphire crystal, stainless steel case and bracelet with screw links, screw down crown, and Seiko VH31 sweeping quartz movement.
I picked up another one last night for $22.87 including shipping and sales tax in case of a gift giving emergency.

This because.... well I need one of each dial and case back (obviously)... well dial at least: Now I just need the black version of that dial + one other odd ball white one. There are too many rare case backs on these to chase them all, but it would really be something to have them all. That would mean the military issue case backs (I think there are 2 or three of those), the Olympic committee issue case backs, the super rare chronograph ones, plus the standard ones (seahorse, olympic torch, asian games, horseshoe, etc)
