Me too, Dave. Since around 1974 Seiko is the only watch that I have worn. The funny thing is, I did not start collecting them until around 2005. As a kid, my Uncle Jimmy used to bring Seikos back from the Orient. Talking about like 1972-1982. Me and my family were always Seiko folks! Started collecting in my 40s, after realizing that you could find all the old models I grew up with on the bay!

You and I have the same tastes dawg! If I strayed, the short list would be a vintage Heuer pasadena, a speedy, Tudor black bay, and maybe a Rollie GMT II.
Love the Helson version of the Ploprof too!
I think I'm stuck on Seiko because I am still finding models I love that I don't have. Just picked up this book on Seiko tool watches that traces the evolution of all the divers, landmasters, flightmasters, etc. there are a good ten to twelve must haves that I have never seen! The list and the lust is endless!

So my collection is all Seiko. There are many others I love, but I only own Seikos.
Am I alone in this, or are there others out there?
Anyone used to be this way and find an escape?

Well, we all agree. I think it's a pretty awful looking watch. The bezel font is not for me, overall it's too blingy, and the lume on the hands and dial is a bit off, etc. The newer designs are better, but still.
The mods I've seen where things have been blasted or coated are better. But again, the bezel ruins it for me.
Just my opinion. Obviously there are countless fans.

Love the inscription! Great find and a great days work!
Patty and I go to flea markets, consignment shops, antique stores, swaps, even swing by pawn shops on occasion. If found a couple of things here and there over the years, but pickings are usually very slim.
Anyone know places in the NY tri-state area?
Would a listing on the board of flea markets and the like, organized by region/state be of interest?

Not that I have ever seen. One of the pilot slide rule chronos have a similar looking treatment of the upper right pusher. May be a discontinued model, but it was in production within the past couple of years.

I too have one that's all original where the resist text has faded to gray.
My vote is its a strip/reprint as well.

Dave, bro, dude, man . . . glad you got that out in the open buddy, sounds like you were on the very precipice of a major meltdown . . . by technical definition you are spot on and I concur thunbsup.gif however mate, those not quite as lucky as those of us with the real McCoy in their possession, whether it be one or a truckload, a 6159 or a SBBN007, will always aspire to somehow coming close and will throw the 'fish in a tin' moniker at it . . . all I can say is save the required Bugs Bunny and get the legit shit, it's worth the investment . . . and that is not meant to diminish any of the joy you receive from the pseudo-Tunas, ultimately, as with all things subjective, it's a case of different strokes for other folks. a194 I love your word choice Dawg! Thanks for keeping me away from the "precipice!"

Of the two, I'd go hammer. Might try an Isofrane strap as well.

Pet peeve time.
I am a fan of the tunas. BIG fan!
The Arnie is not a Tuna. The Sawtooth is not a Tuna. The "Baby Tuna" is not a Tuna.
It's not just the shroud that makes it a tuna. It's also the fact that its an He gas saturation diver that needs no release valve because its engineered to keep the helium out of the case in the first place. None of the aforementioned non-tunas can do this.
Throwing a shroud on a dive watch, rubber or otherwise, does not a tuna make.
Ok...this has been bugging me for some time. I feel much better now. Cheers!
Oh...you are totally free to call whatever you like a tuna. It's not for me to say. It's just been bugging me and I had to vent. :-)

I'm with cobrajet. The 62MAS is stellar and hard to replace. The 6105 has a patina unlike any other 6105 I have ever seen, making it hard or maybe impossible to replace if you truly love that patina.
It's not like you need to sell to help fund a kidney. What on earth do you have coming in that would make you sacrifice one of these?

Yessir, bought it last Friday.
So, here's the update.
In true newb fashion she says to me "it's very nice, honey, but can we change the band?"
I explain that it's the correct band and that part of the whole vintage thing us having the correct band, etc. She then tells me it looks like a boys watch!
I guess she has a point. Against every fiber of my being, I am sure I will find myself at the mall soon, looking at white, pink, or some other girlie strap!
On the plus side, she does like the watch. F-ing newbie! :-)

On our fist date three years ago, Patty brought a bag if peaches she picked from her dads tree. Haven't left her side since. There's magic in those things!
