Ok, honeymoon is over, it was only a matter of time that some feathers would be ruffled...our views and tastes can't all be the same. live and let live, one man's junk is another man's gold and all that, agree to disagree... Glad to see this difference in opinions is being conducted in a civilized manner.
Rob.

The Smiths PRS-68 is available from tomorrow at a price of £485. It's about where I thought it would be price wise but I think I'm still going to have to move a couple on before I put my order in!

£485 or about $745 is pretty costly for a 9015 movement watch.

Haha.... comparing it with this ! What a Joke. Wait !, they do look similar ! I know what you mean... I was up for one of these until two things became clear: 1. They are £500 - around the same price point as a decent 6105... 2. They look like a homage to an aftermarket 6105 rather than a real one! Pity, as I like the idea in principle - but it looks like Jake has the upper hand in the design stakes... except we haven't seen the classic typhoon dial yet - let's hope that he's not been shopping at Mountapo Merchant too!

I think it is an ok "homage" ish 6105. I guess purist would feel otherwise. I personally wouldn't buy one just cause I am not interested in getting anything but a Seiko 6105 since I am a Seiko collector but if I saw it on somebody's wrist, I would ask to check it out.

I went to order mine this evening, guess I'll have to wait a few days. "The launch of the Smiths PRS-68 Diver has resulted in an all-time record number of orders for one day (9 hours actually). Whilst this is a good thing, it's created a 4 day shipping backlog and ordering has been disabled until the backlog is cleared. Apologies for any inconvenience. Eddie Platts" About time he stopped doing it all on his own and took on some staff to help out!

I hope Jake doesn't release his version to soon as I can't afford another £500+ right now - I've just paid for our holiday today!
Every expense seems to come at once.

I thought it was $600-650 deep-sigh-smiley-emoticon

Unfortunately by the time it gets here it will attract import duty and taxes taking it up to just under £510 (once converted to sterling). I'm assuming Jakes price includes shipping, if it doesn't it'll be even more. deep-sigh-smiley-emoticon

Perhaps someone can explain the price point, seems extremely high for what you're getting.

I'm hoping to get a bit of breathing space before it's released Chris. My cars engine self destructed last month and that was another unexpected £1600 bill, it never rains but it pours!
