The other half of the one above.
It got diseased with some white pussy (as in pus, not that snow bunny shit you pervs were thinking of ) stuff on it which killed off the leaves and the weight snapped the stalk.
After spraying it all down with neem oil I repotted the plant and forgot about the stump until I looked when I started with all of this and noticed something green sprouting on it.
I'm not sure if I want to name it Herpasyphilitis or Super HIV (pronounced soo-pr hĭv)

I ran out of coconut fiber seed starting mix last night so I had to go to TNJ after work to pick some up.
I even wrote it on my shopping list.
Well while walking around I made sure to stop by the clearance endcap that I had been watching for the last 2 months since they are clearancing out all of the Echo gas stuff and accessories.
Finally shit was down to 75% off.
Unfortunately the pallets of potting soil and raised bed soil I had been waiting to go down to $1 since last fall never went below $3.
Anywho I checked out the plant racks and saw a red tipped aloe type plant like dapelgrini has but it was one of those "Expensive" plants and they wanted $15 for one since it came in a fancy pot.
I passed.
I probably shouldn't be buying any more plants since I have only shown about 1/3 of my "indoor" plants so far but I saw this one and chose it.
$3.
You used to be able to buy plants in pots 3 times this size for $3
I think I will name it Dirty Holes
And since I was carrying around 8 pounds of crap in my arms already that I had to keep shuffling so I didn't drop it all over the floor I forgot my seed starting mix

I had to stop at Walmart anyways on the way home to get some ziplock containers to put my seedling cups in so that they don't leak all over the counter when I water them so I figured I would pick up my seed starting mix there.
They didn't have any
So now I'll have to stop at the store on the Northside on the way home from work tomorrow to hopefully get some.
Walmart had some sickly deformed looking Venus Flytraps but they didn't have a price on them and I wasn't going to take a gamble on them without knowing the price.
I picked up a blueberry tree instead.
Hopefully it will stay alive long enough inside until it finally stops snowing and warms up.

Holy crap, that's just 1/3rd of them? And uhm, I suppose there was something offensive or incriminating on these plant cups... lol

I'm finding this one of the most amusing thread that you've posted. Don't stop.
Not sure which - H. retusa, H. translucens, H. comptoniana, or H. 'Wudalang' perhaps.
You could name themselves - who'd call you out?
I think I am going to run with this.
Compton was a nature preserve for bunny rabbits.
Rabbits know better than to phuk with my garden.

That rabbit clearly has bad intentions. Also they do make very good soup, just ask any French person ever...

I have Spathiphyllum (don't know the common name, maybe peace lily?). In Finnish it's "Viirivehka".
Literally the best plant I personally know.
Hard to kill (indicates clearly when it needs water) and recovers quickly from being neglected. Apparently some people call it "Drama Queen" due to its behaviour.

Blueberrys are self fertile. But they do better - produce more - if there is another (different) cultivar nearby. So maybe while you're on Northside you can pick up a second blueberry plant, if you don't already have one.

I had to drive across town after work to stop at Walmart again to pick up another blueberry tree per Victors suggestion.
They also had some cheap seeds so I picked up a pack of 20¢ marigold seeds.

We'll check back with this one later.
I picked up a little sized pot from the store when I was off the grid 3 years ago.
It had a bunch of little balls in it.
There ended up being over 60.
I plucked them off whatever was the main plant and replanted them.
I planted 12 or so in this pot / dish and after a while they multiplied and multiplied and multiplied and then got neglected.
I plucked them all off and dug up and repotted the main plants and have been giving them away.
This is round 2.
I also found out that these are NOT sun plants.
I had them under my grow lights and they grew a little but the ones I plucked off and have sitting at work waiting to give a way have tripled in size in a short period of time with no intentional lighting.

I'll just insert this quick garden seed grow thing real quick in case anyone else is working on starting their garden.
I have experimented with trying to get hot pepper seeds (or any pepper seeds) started and have had mixed results.
I started planting the seeds with little to no luck.
I tried the wet paper towel in a ziplock bag method and most of the seeds just got moldy.
I have had the best results by just soaking the seeds in a plastic cup with a flat bottom (for maximum contact) on a heat mat.
You have to change out the water without dumping out any seeds every day.
Some varieties start to germinate and are ready to transplant into seed starting mix in a cup when a little white nub starts to emerge.
Other times if I get too busy or don't have enough room in the seed starting plastic greenhouses I can't get them all transplanted in time and if you wait too long the seeds actually start to become a real plant with the cotyledons emerging.
Other times the seeds just get moldy and nothing happens or when changing out the water the little nubs break off of the seed and they are done for.
Here is a cup with some Chocolate Scorpion pepper seeds that have been neglected.
The look like little sperms

I took all of my carnivorous plants out of the fridge over the last 2 weeks.
Here are my Venus Flytraps from last year.
Hopefully they will all come back or the ones that have woken up will keep on growing.
I have had mixed results usually because they either dry out in the fridge over winter or some other shit happened which is how J and Shaggy died last spring after making it 2 1/2 years.
I will follow up later in the season after they get outside for a while.
Maybe I could name this one Gumjob

These ones were flower stalk strikes and leaf pulls.
You are not supposed to let your Venus Flytraps flower and cut off the flower stalk ASAP as it drains too much of the plants energy to produce a flower stalk than to going to the plants growth.
There is rumor on the internet that Venus Flytraps sold in green pot (or was it the brown pots) are sterile.
I tried letting all of mine in the Death Tray window box flower one year and I even pollinated them with a paintbrush and out of 8 flower stalks with 4 or 5 flowers per stalk I ended up with like 5 seeds
HOWEVER if you do let your plants put up at least some sort of flower stalk you can cut it off as close as possible to the rhizome and stick it a pot and you might end up with a new plant.
If you are pulling off dead leaves and the bottom of the leaf has some white on it then you pulled some of the rhizome with it and you can plant it and if you are lucky you might get a new plant.
I got lucky one year and had several strike.
Other years nothing.
If you are lucky enough to get a new plant it grows much more rapidly than growing from seed which can take a few years to get a large mature plant.
The blue cup was from a flower stalk strike and used to be bigger but kept dying off and coming back smaller every time.
The black pot has a couple of divisions from a leaf pull.
I guess that is why I am taking pictures now as I have lost a lot of favorite plants over the last few years and have no pictures of them.

This years Venus Flytraps I bought over the last 2 months as I couldn't wait until my other ones were done napping in the fridge.
I will update later in the year after they make it outside and get a chance to grow.
Ever wonder why carnivorous plants put up such long and tall flower stalks?
So that the pollinator bugs stay far away from the actual plant and don't get eaten

My favorite cup / pot.
These were grown from seeds and if I recall correctly these were the seeds I harvested from my Death Tray plants.
They unfortunately haven't gotten very big after a few years

My no light giveaway plants at work.
They don't count against my 1 plant at work restriction since I am just holding them.

Whatever story you tell yourself to get you through the night. Sort of like my dozens of watches above the "31 limit" I set myself (one for each day of the month). The extras? I'm just holding them.
Good going on the VFTs. I have grown carnivorous plants for decades, but never succeeded in keeping venus fly traps for longer than a season or two. What mix are you using? Any secrets to your success?

Jay And Shaggy
This is version 2
The pot is named J And Shaggy, not the current incarnations in it.
This was my first plant(s)
I bought 2 Venus Flytraps back at the end of 2017 and they made it 2 1/2 years (or maybe 3 1/2 years)
Version 2 is going on 2 1/2 years (or maybe 1 1/2 years)
It seems by picture timestamps and the fact that all plants look alike and that I work everyday every week week after week year after year I lose my sense of time (or maybe I was abducted by aliens or worse yet the Gubment )
We'll check back later in the season.
