The fellow I'm house sitting for, has a gum ball vending business that he works on the side. This picture is of the proceeds for one month of sales... Each tube has 40 quarters in it. So this haul has 2800 coins in it. I know he sorts through them to pull out the US and other coins that fit the machines but I'm pretty certain he doesn't check the Canadian coins against dates and metal content. From the charts Josh provided, I'm guessing there could be some hidden wealth in each months take. I'll have to ask him if I can go through them and cull the good ones for him. Could make his business a little more lucrative I see he has half a dozen rolls of US quarters as well...need to investigate them

I can't show you my collection because it's in a safety deposit box.
I worked in a coin/candy store in the 70s. I bought a silver dollar every week.
I have every Morgan dollar except for the expensive two... the 93S and 95.
I have a complete set of the Liberty dollars which I find ugly.
My favorite collection is a type set which has one of each coin every minted up until the 70s when I made it. The best coin in the type set is a reeded edge seated Liberty dollar and my favorite is the large cent.
I also used to collect errors. I sold an Atheist Cud on Ebay for over $100. It cost me 1¢.
At an error coin show in Anaheim, CA many years ago I sold an Ike dollar that had a clip and the layers were wonky. Turned that dollar into $400.
I stopped collecting when the US made it a business. Same with stamps.

The ASE (American Silver Eagle) bullion coin was released in 1986. It used Adolph Weinmans obverse design from the 1916 half dollar. ASE's are 40MM and are dated 1986-2014 and the original halves are dated 1916-1947 and are 30mm. See the free stuff contest page but since you already posted your 2 entrys . . . . .

In the good old days they used "denticles" or bullet shaped details along the rim on the obverse (front) and reverse (back) on coins.
You can use the positioning of the legends (wording and date) on coins in relation the the denticles to identify varieties.

Alas the weak denticles leads me to believe it is not real. You are absolutely correct.......... it is not real and neither are the other 19 I have that are just like them! Quick story behind them................... My youngest Daughter and her Husband came out to visit me from Louisiana earlier this year and while they were here amongst the other things they went to see they stopped at every thrift shop, garage sale etc they could find. Back home in addition to their regular jobs she goes every week end and day off that she has to estate sales, yard sales, thrift stores etc and sells what she finds on E-bay. She has made a shit load of money doing so as the folks in her hometown and surrounding areas have NO clue what things are worth so she get them for pennies on the dollar...........anyway to get back to my story...........when she was here she and Hubby drove to Hollywood where they found this little off the wall hidden antique store where she found the coins and at $2.00 each they bought 20 of them. When she came over to the house later for dinner she said she had a surprise for me and handed me the coins. Knowing I was a coin collector she said here Pop.from us to you! Something just didnt feel right with all of them in my hand and they felt too light. I weighed them knowing what a 1/2 dollar of that type should be and sure enough I was right...........each one only weighs 19.5 grams compared to the 27.2 grams they should be,Next thing I did on a whim was take a magnet to them and sure enough the magnet stuck and picked them up! Damnit I thought...........too bad they werent real as if they had been I would have made a lot of money selling them. As it is now I look at them once in awhile and do some wishfull thinking! I am actually surprised as she should have known better but her judgement lacked that day and I was grateful that she hadnt paid a premium for them!
