I understand Seiko is sending a limo to pick up Misters Kable and Strickland, and stopping at Starbucks for them on the way! (Simply jealous, that's all... ) - Thomas Ground transportation? All that traffic. Helicopter.

So as the "next closest thing" until my SLA017 finally arrives, I did manage to get the Rubber Strap for the new 62MAS Re-Issue. Mounted on a 6217-8001 as you see Soft and pliable, this is one heckuva comfortable rubber they used. Fantastic waffle (with tire tread where there are holes) vintage design. Black PVD SEIKO embossed keeper. Interesting nod to the original, the buckle is a near exact copy except they went with "stainless steel B". End of strap has "B19" molded into the 6 o'clock piece end on the underside. Photos? Sure! The strap looks great! Where did you get it from??

I figured the SLA had 20mm lugs, but this looks like it fits perfectly. Is the new strap 19mm?

So my AD checked. Will arrive very late July, early August.
Going to put my patience to the test!
Good news is they are being promised at least 2 of the 3 they ordered and sold on pre-order, and I get first dibs.

Never known for my wise, well-considered and frugal watch buying behavior, I may blow my life savings at the end of the month (when I may get a quarterly bonus check) to buy one of these from a reseller. Yes, I will pay more then "retail" but I didn't have the money to do a pre-order. - Thomas

The best price I've seen on the 'bay is $3400 - a US seller has/had two for sale. Best of luck!

What was the pre-sale price? There was never a pre-sale by Seiko. Some of us were cagey enough to approach Seiko ADs and pre-order, but as always it was to each man to himself to fight for his own discount if possible. My AD said I was the one who alerted him to its introduction. When the AD called his Seiko territory sales rep the guy hadn't even heard of it yet. So when I plunked down a Big Bill and a half as a down payment on faith it would come around I was in a good position to bargain. But actual sanctioned pre-sale price? No. Pre-Order price? Up to each dealer. I

I just can't see that price personally, guess I'll have to be happy with my marine master oh well FWIW, Seiko chose to go top drawer with the innards on the 62MAS Reissue SLA017. Shamelessly borrowed from the interweb: "The movement is an 8L35, an undecorated and unadjusted version of the high-end Grand Seiko 9S55. Rhodium-plated, 26 jewels, automatic, 28800vph (4Hz), handwind and hacking, 50 hour power reserve. The size of the balance wheel was increased to provide the torque required, as the hands are heavier than a dress watch. The 8L35 is also used in the Landmaster, which has the same hands. The movement by all accounts keeps excellent time, and in 9S55 trim is capable of exceeding COSC specs. Anecdotal reports on various fora indicate less than five seconds’ daily error is typical. The spec is -10 to +15 seconds per day.The 8L35 is completely in-house Seiko, and is descended from the 6159 300m diver, circa 1969. Everything from oil on up, including mainspring, is Seiko. Kinda cool. What they call a ‘manufacture’. .. As such, it is one of the finest automatic movements Seiko makes. The machining is of the highest quality and the design and construction is informed by Seiko’s many years of experience. I believe the 8L35 even has a Lossier inner coil on the hairspring. A very nice touch you will not find in any modern Swiss watches to my knowledge."
