I picked up 2 good boxes yesterday. I bet there is a lead and a tail box that is sitting at some other bank. I miss the good old days of getting 4 boxes at a time instead of wondering if there were more when you get a good box or 2. Box 1: 4 proofs, a 1964, a 40%er, and a gold plated. Box 2: 4 proofs, a 1998 silver proof, 7 40%ers, and a Twoonie (my 2nd)

I opened up one of my boxes I picked up on Friday and saw 4 Walker enders. I quickly flipped all of the rolls over to see if there were any more enders. There were 2 more Walkers. I tell myself this has the makings of a monster box. I was so excited I opened up the first of the 6 ender rolls and there are 4 Walkers in it. I was about to rip into the other five but told myself settle down and take a picture. Each of the rolls had multiple Walkers. Now I am telling myself "if this is what is in the ender rolls the rest of the box must be loaded". I start cracking the rolls open and nothing. And then more nothing. Every once in a while there would be a roll with 2 or 3 Walkers and Franklins. Then I find a couple of rolls with a single 40%er in it. In the first box I searched before this had a roll with 2 Walkers in the same roll and another roll with a nice Franklin. So my theory is either the Walkers were dumped into a coin counter halfway through the bag and they were the only halves that person cashed in which is why they stayed stuck in a pocket / cluster in the machine bag and then stayed pretty much together when they got counted and rolled by the machine. I also think the 40%ers and the 1964 came from a different person dumping them in the machine as the rims were not black like the others and they were spread out over a few rolls. OR (and I am hoping OR) These rolls were stragglers from the real Monster Box that is still out there somewhere. Most of the coins were very dirty / environmentally damaged / etc except I did find an AU / UNC 1944 Walker that took an unfortunate recent scrape to the obverse. It has great luster except the edge is black like the rest of halves from the group. Unfortunately it wasn't the Monster Box that the 6 ender and multiple silvers in each roll should have indicated but I'll take 40 Walkers, 4 Franklins, a 1964, and 4 40%ers in a box anyday.

I got a good box yesterday. 5 enders with a total of 76 40%ers. The other box had 1 40%er for a total of 77. I got a guy coming today to take my accumulated finds off my hands to hopefully cover a new watch at no out of pocket (except face value of the coins) cost to me.

Saw this, thought it was pretty cool... "Jau 25th, 2017: Hobo Nickels We've seen hobo nickels before, coins carved by the hobos during the Great Depression then sold or traded for food/shelter. The custom pretty much died out during/after WW II, but a few engravers have kept the tradition alive." www.instagram.com/shaun_hughes_engraving_uk/

I like that one but would have used a higher grade coin uncleaned coin. I mean if you going to market a watch to say someone like me then you should either respect that side of the design implementation or take orders and have customers submit the coin that they want to use.

Here is my Silver Eagle I got from Chris back in the end of 2014 on a wager. Now that I have to spend 8 hours a day walking in circles instead of 6 out of 8 hours a day sitting at a desk I think it will finally start to wear good. I don;t think I have a prepocket pic but you can Google what 99.999% of all ASE's look like in since they are all in uncirculated condition.

Not coin but paper money related. Today at work they had a fund raiser lunch for the companies charity fund. I didn't work last weekend but it seemed they had a hot dog cookout. Today it was build your own fresh lunchmeat (roast beef, ham, and / or turkey) sandwich, chips, and soda for $2. I didn't bring a lunch and had planned to go out for lunch but for $2 you can't beat the deal. I saw everyone else taking part while I was on break. When I went back at my late lunch the donation box was gone. I decided to go for it anyways and the store manager came into the lunchroom. I asked him where the box went and he said they were counting the money. I opened my wallet and handed him one of the $2 bills I carry around to spend. He asked me if I was sure I wanted to spend it and I told him I collect coins and spend odd stuff to educate people. Day 2 in (after training) and combine that with my work ethic and bubbly personalty and after two personal one on one training days with 2 department mangers I am now good with all the way up to the local upper echelons

I'm glad to hear things are working out for you, Josh. The pay cut notwithstanding, it seems like you found a pretty good gig.

abc7chicago.com/religion/rare-coin-saves-nw-indiana-churchs-plan-for-new-building/1878946/Rare coin saves NW Indiana church's plan for new buildingVALPARAISO, Ind. (WLS) -- A northwest Indiana church's hopes for a new building is still alive - all thanks to a generous donor and a very rare gold coin. It started when Pastor Ben Lamb and his mobile GracePoint Church in Valparaiso needed a space. "We have a big 53-foot semi truck and everything gets unloaded and set up every single week," Pastor Lamb said. "We've been doing this every single week. We maxed out at the school we're at and needed our own facility." They found an ideal location at the right price, but their lender only gave them a few days to come up with a $300,000 guarantee. It seemed like an impossible task until one of the church members came forward and offered the church a coin. "We got the coin and we thought, 'What do you do with a coin?'" Lamb said. But it wasn't just any old coin. Minted in 1866, the $20-denomination gold coin is one of only ten known surviving liberty double eagles with the "In God we trust" motto. It is expected to sell for over $300,000. But the coin has a checkered past. The woman who donated it was robbed several times by someone pretending to be a friend just to get to it. That was part of the reason why she wanted to remain anonymous. "I was beat up, held at gunpoint. I wanted to get rid of the coin. It was just a burden," the anonymous donor said. "From the beginning everyone is asking, 'Are you sure you want to do this?' And from the beginning all I could think of is, 'Yeah. This is right. This is good. And I feel blessed being able to do it." Online bidding for the coin is open and up to $140,000 as of Saturday evening. The live auction will take place April 27 in Schaumburg. Meanwhile, the church is still under construction. Their goal is to be up and running in their new location by October 1.

Picked these up at the Central States show in the flatlands today. I was torn between 2 too good to be true (according to Ebay sold and current listings prices) for 2 coins I have wanted for the last 3 years. I was holding off buying anything until I made the full rounds of the bourse floor so I could use my limited budgeted funds at the seller I scored from at last years show but he wasn't there this year. After choosing the lower priced but not as nice and as much of deal coin I had enough left over for a 2017 ASE and a 2017 Canukistanian trinket (which was more money than the ASE ) This year I came prepared and brought an Ellis Island and a 1967 half (50 years old) to get rolled. Had to give a fake name and fake ID and wear gloves for no fingerprints to stay off the grid

One has the Gettysburg address on it and the other the lord's prayer. Are they worth anything
