Thanks to everyone for their help and input, bears out what I had thought - seems like the hammer is the best solution.
Smart idea though, may invest in one - then I could check every so often to make sure I am still alive. :imok:

Nice one Zeke. Just an update on my clunker now running about 5 seconds fast, in all probability my most accurate watch Do you have a profile shot of this watch? This what you want? Excuse the dust, been working outside and forgot to polish it before shooting (as usual).

My selection, number 1 is my most important, my original Seiko gifted by Mrs ausimax, could use a new crystal! The other 4 were purchased as wrecks and rebuilt, nothing special or valuable,

If you are not set on Original, this is a nice solid link SS bracelet available in 19mm, the odd sizes can be difficult to find at times. Item No.

From my reading it says Miyuta on the movement not Miyota, but a search for Miyuta turns up nothing about watches.

Now that you mention it, Nick, I don't think I have ever seen a photo of Thomas with one of his watches on his wrist. They’re a bit like hen’s teeth Mikey. We get treated to the very occasional wrist shot when Thomas does one of his legendary ‘unboxing’ threads, but then I can only assume that said watch goes straight back into the box as they’re never seen ‘in the wild’ again Be careful what you ask for leffe, you may just get it! Now the rest of us are just left to drool.

Congratulations to acidstain, and thanks for a great contest Cam.
Getting in in 6th place with a run of the mill calibre movement leaves me feeling quite chuffed.

The beater ended up 2 seconds Fast, not bad for a cheap movement.

Well here we are 4 weeks done & dusted, the old banger is still pushing on, about 2 seconds fast , no prize winner but I am chuffed that a stock standard low cost quartz can perform that well.

Just checking in with my entry. Still holding within a second, I am impressed for the cost of the movement, I think we all hark back to the beginnings of the quartz watch when the movements were virtual built on the mechanical mainplates, and reminisce about the good old days, a little like the good old cars when they knew how to build them, and a V8 engine was doing well if you got 100,000 miles before a rebuild, against this modern crap that only does about 250,000 Km before you start spending. Happy Easter everyone! I have hell's own trouble trying to get decent shots against the computer.

Update pictures - I’ll add to the spreadsheet later on. This challenge proves two things leffe, A. you have too many quartz watches and B. too much time on your hands! .

A nice collection of Chinese watches you have, all mine are recent models there don't seem to be many old Chinese models on the bay. I never seem to see any SEA-GULL branded watches, only other brands like Alpha with seagull movements, have they gone out of making complete watches? Definitely not. Check this out:
www.seagullwatchstore.com/default.asp
Yes I found that site yesterday, they have a good range of models, must be their surveillance and destruction of fakes that keeps their profile on the bay low.

it advances two segments at a time, can't see how it can be the Day there aren't 12 in a week. The 4 o'clock pusher works the 3 o'clock sub dial and may indicate the date 1 to 30 ? No, but there are 12 months in a year..😘. Hadn't thought of that, not much help to me if I don't know what day of the week it knowing the month is just confusion!

Just checking in with my competition entry, not looking too bad at this stage, I recon it is about half a second off, and has been worn continuously during the whole period, not bad for a cheap modern quartz.
